Doran Street and Adjacent Streets Improvement Project

The Doran Street and Adjacent Streets Improvement Project is expected to start April 2016 until September 2016. This project is yet another precautionary step the Public Works Department is taking in order to maintain the City of Glendale’s infrastructure. Selected broken and damaged sidewalks, curbs and gutters, driveway approaches, alley aprons and bus pads will be removed and repaired. Deteriorated pavement will be reconstructed and replaced with asphalt concrete pavement. New curb ramps will be installed at selected locations in compliance with current ADA requirements.

Unhealthy or damaged trees will be removed, but new trees will be planted. Existing traffic striping will be replaced with new ones so that they are more visible and are safer to use. A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Doran Street and Geneva Street through Balboa Avenue. Traffic signal upgrades will be made at the intersections of Doran Street and Maryland Street, Doran Street and Louise Street, and Doran Street and Jackson Street.

When the start date draws closer, the details of the traffic impacts will become clearer. However, traffic detours, restricted access to driveways and sidewalks, and “No Parking” signs can be expected. Our staff will be working closely with the contractor to ensure that the appropriate mitigating measures are being taken to minimize the effects on residences and businesses. If you own property in the areas highlighted on the map, be sure to pay attention to any letters from Public Works or door hangers from the contractor stating important construction updates.

The Public Works Department invites you to attend our community meeting on Saturday, December 12th from 9:00AM-1:00PM at Glendale’s Municipal Services Building, 633 East Broadway Room 105 & 106. We will gladly answer any questions or listen to any concerns you may have.
