On the morning of May 15th, residents sporting active wear and wielding water bottles will congregate at Glendale’s Central Park. Depending on their preference, some will be lacing up hiking shoes while others will be checking the air pressure of their bike tires. They’ll be kicking-off the Jewel City Fun & Fitness Day, an annual event geared towards unifying communities in the name of fitness and outdoor recreation. It’s comprised of three headlining activities - the 4th Annual Jewel City Ride, Family Fun Ride, and Urban Hike & Scavenger Hunt. To learn more and register, go to JewelCityRide.com.
Hosted by the Glendale Rotary Club, event proceeds will benefit Boy Scouts of America, Glendale Police Explorers Program, and the Glendale Educational Foundation. Local eateries Lao Sze Chuan and Rounds Premium Burgers will be providing lunch on the lawn. Participants may reserve their lunch online for $10 per person or on the event day for $12.

Jewel City Ride – 8 a.m.
It may be no Tour De France, but the Jewel City Ride is no slouch. Comprised of a 35-mile loop of Glendale, you’ll work up a mean sweat while enjoying a scenic tour of The Jewel City’s many sights and sounds. Tickets are $25 and include lunch from one of the aforementioned local restaurants. You’ll also receive a free souvenir and raffle ticket. The grand prize? A brand new bike!
Bike Safety Rodeo & Family Fun Ride – Starts at 9 a.m.
Grab your loved ones and enjoy a safe ride through downtown Glendale courtesy of a police escort. The Family Fun Ride also starts with a Bike Safety Rodeo at 9 a.m.!
Scavenger Hunt & Urban Hike – 10:30 a.m.
Embark on an epic item quest that takes you all over The Jewel City. Participants will be eligible for prizes including two children's bicycles.
