10 Things to Do in Glendale in September


1. Music on the Green, Americana at Brand

Starting Friday, September 7th and continuing every weekend through Sunday, September 30th, Capital One invites you to Music on The Green – a fun, free, family friendly concert in the park featuring a variety of Jazz, R&B, Americana and Blues artists. 2. Jacob Armen Live, Alex Theatre

On September 8, internationally-acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and drum prodigy Jacob Armen returns to his hometown stage to mark the long-awaited release of his album, When Drums Conduct.

Hailed as one of the greatest drummers in the world, Jacob and his awe-inspiring talent took the world by storm at a young age. He began playing the drums professionally at 18 months old and appeared on The Tonight Show at age seven, which led to his getting signed to Prince’s record label, Paisley Park Enterprises/NPG Records, at the age of 10, among his many other notable achievements.

3. Maja on Stage, Alex Theatre

On September 9, renowned Filipina celebrity Maja Salvador goes on tour in the U.S.! The award-winning actress and performer will showcase her talents as she goes live on stage along with celebrated host and comedian Pooh. Special guests Joseph Marco, Vin Abrenica, and Arjo Atayde will join the Dance Princess to provide you with a fun-filled night of singing, dancing, and laughter!

4. Open Art & Music Festival, 3pm- 10pm, Alex Theatre

September 15: The Open Arts & Music Festival is presented by Glendale Arts and the Downtown Glendale Association. The Festival is FREE and family-friendly with live music curated by Spaceland Presents, an arts market with workshops, a Beer Garden with local craft breweries, temporary public art installations, and all-day activities for children. The city block in front of the historic Alex Theatre in Downtown Glendale closes for the day and comes alive with the arts.

Innovation peaks in the silicon mountains September 15-21. Backed by the community, this week long public event has an action-packed lineup with hands-on VR/AR experiences, panels with industry leaders, VC matchmaking, career fair, $60,000 Pitchfest, and more!

6. Elevate, Homenetmen Centennial, Glendale Central Library

The Elevate Exhibition will run from September 15 through September 30. Celebrate the Homenetmen Centennial of community-building through scouts and athletics and its role in the revival of a nation.

Plan an evening with Southern California’s largest outdoor movie series combining popular movies, audience games, live music, and, most importantly, food trucks offering every cuisine imaginable. Every element of this event is carefully curated to develop a unique atmosphere for each screening. Street Food Cinema is screening Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist on September 8 and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on September 15.

8. Saturday Family Concert- Music Animated: The Beat Buds, Brand Library

September 22: The BeatBuds® is dedicated to exercising your child’s mind through music. At home in pre-schools, libraries, and museums and perfect for birthday parties, in-home weekly jam sessions, play dates, and special events, The BeatBuds® offer an interactive program designed to send your child on a wholesome musical journey. Through musical instrument play, singing, and dancing, and the incorporation of major and minor keys and rhythmic and melodic exploration, The BeatBuds® use their original music as the foundation to this interactive music experience. Let’s Jam!!! Admission is free and a musical instrument petting zoo will follow the performance.

9. Dia De Los Muertos, Downtown Central Library Auditorium

Everyone is invited to this free event of September 29! Make calaveras de papel mache and alebrijes from 2pm-4pm.

September’s perfect weather and Glendale’s beautiful trails make for a wonderful day exploring the outdoors!
