Glendale City Council, On the Go!

August 18, 2015

As the Council has pushed to ebb the amount of development in the downtown specific plan (DSP) area, the opportunity has arisen to repurpose the afternoon hours to conduct a site visit of Glendale’s critical systems and programs. In an effort to provide more outreach to the community as well as edify the City Council team about significant public service and infrastructure efforts underway, “Work Boot Tuesday” will occur once a month, in lieu of the City Council’s customary afternoon session.  On Tuesday, August 18 at 3:00 pm, join the Glendale City Council for a “Work Boot” meeting at the Los Angeles – Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. The plant, co-owned by the cities of Glendale and Los Angeles, processes around 20 million gallons of wastewater per day and helps conserves over one billion gallons of potable water per year through its reuse. Visitors will tour the facility, learn about Glendale’s sewage collection system, and watch a sewage overflow emergency response by Glendale’s Public Works Department. *Hardhats are required. Please bring one with you if you have one*

The next Work Boot Tuesday meeting has also been scheduled and will take place September 15 and the Scholl Canyon Landfill. These Work Boot meetings are great opportunities for members of the public to tour and learn more about City facilities that are normally not as easily accessible.

Other “On the Go” meetings with the Glendale City Council include a “City Council in Your Neighborhood” meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 1 at the Brand Library & Art Center at 6:00 pm. This special meeting will take place lieu of a regular City Council evening meeting. On-site meetings give residents an opportunity to discuss topics important to their neighborhood IN their neighborhood. All Glendale residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and check out one of Glendale’s most beautiful buildings.
