On August 18, 2015 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Glendale Police Department detectives arrested 23 year old Glendale resident, ARTAK AVAKIAN for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
In August 2015, Glendale detectives received a tip regarding a suspected prescription drug dealer at a residence in the 1100 block of Thompson Avenue, Glendale. Detectives conducted surveillance on the residence and at approximately 3:15 p.m. on August 18, 2015, detectives detained Artak Avakian after observing him in a narcotics transaction on Thompson Avenue.
A search warrant was served at Avakian’s residence and the following items seized:
(3) Rifles, (1) Shotgun, (1) Pistol, $19,670.00 cash, over 450 prescription pills including opiates and amphetamines, 20 mdma/ecstasy pills, 13 baggies of cocaine, 1 ounce of psilocybin, 1 baggie of methamphetamine, digital scale and packaging, and cell phone with several text messages indicative of narcotics sales.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Avakian was employed as an Uber driver for two years and it is suspected that he used the position as a cover to sell drugs.
Avakian posted bail on August 19, 2015 and is due to appear in Glendale Superior Court on November 13, 2015.
