*RESCHEDULED* Scholl Canyon "Work Boot" Meeting

Due to the forecasted rain, the Tuesday, September 15 Work Boot Meeting at the Scholl Canyon Landfill will be postponed until Tuesday,  October 20. The conditions at the landfill following the rain will not be conducive to the outdoor walking tours planned for the meeting.

The City Council will still hold their regular evening meeting at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15 in City Council Chambers.

Glendale, CA - As the Council has pushed to ebb the amount of development in the downtown specific plan (DSP) area, the opportunity has arisen to repurpose the afternoon hours to conduct a site visit of Glendale’s critical systems and programs. In an effort to provide more outreach to the community as well as edify the City Council team about significant public service and infrastructure efforts underway, “Work Boot Tuesday” will occur once a month, in lieu of the City Council’s customary afternoon session.  On Tuesday, September 15 and the City Council will put on their work boots and head to the Scholl Canyon Landfill. The meeting will take place at the Glendale Fire Regional Training Center, 3910 E. Glenoaks Blvd, Glendale, CA 91206. These Work Boot meetings are great opportunities for members of the public to tour and learn more about City facilities that are normally not as easily accessible.

The City of Glendale prides itself on being a full service city for our residents and businesses and the landfill is an environmentally friendly way of managing our refuse. By operating a landfill locally, Glendale is able to minimize costs to residents and reduce air pollution caused by hauling. Local control also ensures Glendale can actively pursue advanced conversion technologies as they become available in the future. The City of Glendale’s vision for Scholl Canyon is to have a clean, high-tech waste conversion facility with a landfill component. Join us to learn more about Glendale’s full refuse collection services, including recycling, bulky item pick up, and green waste.
