Seeking An Identity: Public Art In Glendale

The Brand Associates & the City of Glendale Arts & Culture Commission will co-sponsor “Seeking an Identity: Public Art in Glendale” at Brand Library & Art Center. This lively discussion about the role of public art in Southern California communities and the possibilities for further growing a visionary public art program for Glendale will be of interest to artists, arts professionals, civic-minded citizens and those who work in municipal planning and economic development departments.

Each of the guest panelists will make a short visual presentation showcasing a successful public art project in their city, addressing questions like what are the ingredients for success? and What are the challenges and lessons learned? They will engage the audience in a discussion about how communities can crystalize their arts identity and build a thriving public art program.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the discussion.

Expert panelists include:

Joy Feuer: Founding Director of Art from the Ashes/AFTA Productions. Joy is currently implementing the “You are Here” art project for the City of Glendale Arts & Culture Commission.

Robert Crouch: Interim Executive Director Pasadena Arts Council, producer of the AxS Festival, a two-week citywide celebration of art and science featuring exhibitions, performances, educational activities and more.

Marc Pally: Public art planner and curator. Artistic Director of "CURRENT: LA Water" (the first iteration of the Los Angeles Public Art Biennial) and former artistic director of GLOW (Santa Monica).
