With the Super Bowl less than two weeks away, website builder Wix and animation hub Dreamworks Animation Studios have released two teasers to build anticipation for their upcoming 30-second big game ad. Their cross promotional ad partnership depicts characters from Dreamworks’ Kung Fu Panda franchise attempting an array of extreme and unorthodox marketing tactics to promote a local business, only to be reminded it all starts with a stunning website. Kung Fu Panda 3 is slated for release this Friday.
The first official teaser dropped a week ago and depicts Po, the lovable star of Kung Fu Panda, going to great lengths to promote his father’s noodle business. His extreme marketing tactic involves attaching himself to a rocket and spelling out the company’s name using the smoke trails. His plan inevitably goes awry.
Today’s teaser featured Po daydreaming about sponsoring the entire Super Bowl halftime show to spread the word about the noodle business. He imagines himself performing a scintillating guitar solo onstage in front of a packed house, only to be brought back down to Earth yet again by Master Shifu and his wise advice to build a stunning website.
Wix CMO Omer Shai hailed the collaboration and expressed enthusiasm for its campaign.
“The Super Bowl is a huge stage, and all brands play offense to score big and win viewers’ attention. Collaborating with a creative leader like DreamWorks Animation enabled us to develop a fun and effective campaign that will give us an edge come Super Bowl Sunday,” said Shai in a statement. “Even if you’re not a Dragon Warrior, with Wix you can effectively use the web to grow your business or brand. And that all starts with a stunning website.”
More teasers are expected to be released.
