Glendale Water and Power Ranked Among Most Reliable Utilities

PA Consulting Group recently ranked Glendale Water and Power (GWP) as one of the most reliable utilities in the Nation. In their System Reliability, Restoration, and Response Report (SR3), PA Consulting Group evaluated outages for 100 publicly-owned utilities (POUs) and 136 investor owned utilities (IOUs) nationwide, taking into account system outage duration, outage duration directly affecting customers, and the number of outages customers may experience over a 12-month period.

GWP ranked above average in all measures when compared with the other utilities. The report stated that GWP customers can expect 0.99 outages per year as opposed to the average of 1.24 outages for all other utilities. It also ranked GWP in the top 10%, with an average system outage duration of 37.74 minutes, and an average outage duration for the affected customers of 38.05 minutes; significantly below the outage duration among all other utilities with averages of 132.07 minutes and 106.92 minutes, respectively.

“This is quite an accomplishment and a direct reflection of the job done by our electrical staff over the past several years. We strive to deliver reliable service to our customers and these results show that we are doing just that,” said Steve Zurn, General Manager of Glendale Water & Power.

The report was conducted for Calendar year 2014.
