With the Glendale Central Library renovation reaching its final chapter, the Central Library will be closing its doors to the public at the end of the day on Thursday, September 1, 2016. The closure is to ensure the safety of library patrons while allowing constructions crews to move into high gear for its grand re-opening in Spring 2017. While the Central library will be closed, the library is searching for temporary alternative spaces in the downtown area.
The re-opened Glendale Central Library will be a state-of-the art facility which places public access to information and technology at the forefront. The renovation will feature new study and community spaces as well as a MakerSpace, a Remembrance Room, a Digital Lab, six new conference rooms, a brand new teen space, and an upgraded auditorium with a green room/audio mixing room and catering kitchen. These additions and more will transform the Central Library into an artistic, technological, and informational community hub.
While the Central Library may be closed, Glendale’s Library, Arts & Culture Department believes in giving the people of Glendale continual access to library services. Listed below are some ways in which the Library will keep people connected and offer a full range of services to residents.
