Commission on the Status of Women Seeking Student Ex-Officio Members

If you are a student who has a passion for women’s issues and wants to make a contribution to the Glendale community, the City of Glendale’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is seeking two new Student Ex Officio members.

The Commission on the Status of Women has a vision of Glendale where the full potential of all women and girls is realized, and which will enrich the entire community. A community where women and girls have equal rights, opportunities, and choices exercised freely, comfortably, and safely. Fostering opportunities for women and girls to have a strong voice and participate equally in community affairs while celebrating our diversity. This important Commission is composed of seven volunteer members: five of whom are appointed by the City Council and two Student Ex-Officio members who are appointed by the current Commissioners.

The CSW is looking for their Student Ex-Officio members to serve on the Commission for one year from November 2016 until October 2017.

The commission is looking for students who are:

  • High school juniors, seniors, or those attending an institution of higher learning, and/or live in Glendale

  • Dedicated to the Glendale Community

  • Passionate about helping people

  • Interested in women’s issues

Not only is this experience a great way to help your community and address the various issues women face, but it also allows students to experience local government and civic service first hand. The Commission meets on the second Monday of each quarter at 5:30 pm (February, May, August, and November) at Glendale City Hall.
