Next “Work Boot” Meeting on Public Safety Announced

Mark your calendars, the City of Glendale’s award-winning “Work Boot Tuesday” meeting will be returning this September with another fascinating look into what makes the City tick. Keeping with the theme of the last Work Boot, this meeting will continue to focus on public safety in the Jewel City.

Participants will get a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of both the Police Dispatch Center and the Verdugo Fire Communications Center. Learn how the dispatch centers deal with high-pressure phone calls, determine the situation in seconds, identify locations of each emergency, and communicate that critical information to firefighters, paramedics, and police officers. Not only will this be a rare chance to actually visit the Police and Fire dispatch centers, but you will be able to witness the work involved in keeping the residents of Glendale safe.

The meeting will commence on September 27th at 3:00 pm in the Glendale Police Department main lobby at 131N Isabel St, Glendale, CA 91206. The second phase of the meeting will take place at the Verdugo Fire Communications Center at approximately 4 pm. Attendees of the Work Boot meeting will be given parking passes for the Verdugo Fire Communications Center.

City of Glendale’s “Work Boot Tuesday” is an award-winning program enabling City Council members and residents the opportunity to experience critical city systems and programs firsthand. In 2016, the program won the Winston Crouch Award for Innovation in Government from the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Southern California Chapter, a premier professional association for the public sector.
