Upcoming Pacific Avenue Improvements to Disrupt Regular Traffic

In a continued effort to improve the streets of Glendale, the City of Glendale will be working on major sections of Pacific Avenue over the next week. The City will be grinding, leveling, and installing new asphalt starting this Wednesday, September 21st which will significantly improve the quality of Pacific Avenue and your driving experience. The small paving and grinding operations will last only a week, but they will cause some temporary traffic disruptions.

Work to upsize and upgrade the existing sewer mains on Pacific Avenue began in July 2015 and the first phase of the project was completed by February 2016. The second phase will focus on traffic signal modification and will improve the overall condition of Pacific Avenue. Each improvement during Phase 2 will occur either during the day or night to minimize impacts to residents and businesses. Work will begin Wednesday, September 21st and is projected to finish Thursday, September 29th.

Barring adverse weather conditions, listed below are the locations of each improvement and whether they will occur during daytime or nighttime operations:

  • Wednesday, September 21st - Friday, September 23rd: Street grinding and leveling course installation Pacific Avenue – from Colorado Boulevard to Pioneer Drive, Pioneer Drive and Burchett Street (Day Work)

  • Friday, September 23rd: Street grinding Pacific Avenue – from Pioneer Drive to Dryden Street (Night Work)

  • Sunday, September 25th: Street leveling course and rubberized asphalt installation. Pacific Avenue – from Pioneer Drive to Dryden Street. Pacific Avenue at Freeway on-off ramps will be closed (Night Work)

  • Wednesday, September 28th - Thursday, September 29th: Street rubberized asphalt installation Pacific Avenue – from Colorado Boulevard to Pioneer Drive (Day work)
