Glendale City Hall, Glendale government offices, and many City services will be closed this Friday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.
Residents and businesses are invited to commemorate this Veterans Day by showing appreciation and thanking our local veterans for their sacrifice on our behalf. Veterans Day is an important occasion to think about the freedoms we enjoy and the brave men and women in uniform who serve to protect them.
This year, American Legion Post 288 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration at Two Strike Park in La Crescenta. The armed forces medley and presentation of colors will be performed by the Crescenta Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC. The ceremony begins at 3 pm at Two Strike Park located at 5107 Rosemont Avenue in La Crescenta.
The Glendale City Council will meet at its regularly scheduled meeting next week Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
The Glendale Fire and Police departments will continue to be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services during Veterans Day. For any life-threatening emergencies, always remember to call 9-1-1.
Glendale Water and Power (GWP) offices will be closed. In the case of electric and water emergencies, or to report a power outage, residents can call (818) 548-2011. GWP customers can still log into their account and pay their bills online at http://www.glendaleca.gov/government/departments/glendale-water-and-power. However, the GWP Customer Service and Billing offices will be closed.
All refuse and recycling services will continue as normal during the week. While service will continue, the Integrated Waste Management offices will be closed.
All Glendale Public Library sites will be closed on November 11th in observance of Veterans Day, but will resume normal Saturday service on November 12th.
All recreation and community centers and parks will be open during normal hours on Veterans Day. However, the meals program for senior citizens and the elderly will not be running.
The City of Glendale wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday with friends and family.
