The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the City of Glendale Continuum of Care (CoC) nearly $2.37 million in grants to support various homeless prevention and support programs here in Glendale.
Funding in the amount of $100,000 is being awarded to the Family Promise of the Verdugos for direct services, with the rest going to Ascencia’s programs, The Salvation Army of Glendale, Door of Hope, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, and the Glendale Housing Authority. These various programs will continue to provide 130 units of permanent supportive housing, intensive case management, outreach, mental health care, substance abuse support, and veterans programming. The City of Glendale was granted $69,000 to support Continuum of Care planning and $88,000 to enhance the local homeless management system.

A Continuum of Care Program is designed to bring various government and non-profit resources together to minimize the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness to individuals, family, and communities. Since 1993, The City of Glendale has had its own Continuum of Care to address problems of homelessness in the City of Glendale. The Glendale Housing Authority is the lead agency coordinating and managing $3 million annually in federal, state, and city funds for programs that provide shelter, housing, and a range of homeless services.
