Donate or Help to Build Lomita Affordable Housing

For 22 years, the City of Glendale and San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGV Habitat) have partnered to provide affordable housing to our communities. In continuation of this important partnership, six new townhouse style homes will be built at 634-700 Lomita Avenue here in Glendale.

The Lomita Homes will provide affordable housing to a pre-determined group of families and will begin construction in July 2017. The homes are configured as six attached condominium dwelling units, with 3 bedrooms, ½ bathroom on the ground floor, one and ¾ bathrooms on the top floor, and an attached two car garage.

The San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and communities by bringing people together to build, renovate, and repair homes for families in need. Families are carefully selected, and purchase their homes through a no-profit, no interest loan and invest 500 hours of “Sweat Equity” to finally reach home ownership. The program is not a hand out, but rather gives families the resources and gets them involved in the process of home ownership by working on their own homes.

There are always opportunities to get involved and help out families in need thanks to the many volunteer opportunities Habitat for Humanity offers. You can volunteer to work on the construction site, serve as a crew leader to lead the construction site, join a committee, or ask your employer to sponsor a Corporate Build Day. Even if you are unable to volunteer you can make a financial donation or even donate a car, truck, van, or boat. No matter how you choose to get involved, your contribution of money, time, or resources can help a family in need
