From 11a.m. to 4p.m. on June 3rd, the Glendale Police Department is transforming Isabel Street into an event-filled walkway for its third-annual Police Open House. Participants can watch as a police helicopter touches down, as a K-9 unit shows its talents, and as the SWAT team dons their gear – all while meeting the amiable officers and staff Glendale has come to love.
But the day’s fun doesn’t stop there. Chief Robert Castro notes, “We at the Glendale Police Department relish any opportunity we get to showcase personalities and talents of our exceptional team. And what better way to show residents who we are than by offering free lunches, health screenings, safe driving courses, and tours of our equipment and special unit teams.”
Event goers are also encouraged to test their strength at the rock climbing wall, get their face painted by one of the attending artists, or apply for a position in the GPD family.
To add to the fun, just steps away from the Police Open House is the City’s celebration for the 75th anniversary of Glendale’s City Hall. The party will feature photos of Glendale’s past, a birthday card for resident’s to sign, cake, and live music from the 1940’s themed singing group, the Beverly Belles. The event runs from 1.p.m. to 3p.m. in the City Hall lobby at 613 East Broadway Street, and in the Isabel Street parking lot.
