City Council Proclaims May as Building Safety Month

City of Glendale Building Official Jan Bear, pictured left, accepted a Mayor's Proclamation from Glendale City Council Member Zareh Sinanyan, right, as members of the public, City staff, and the City Council looked on at the April 30 Glendale City Council Meeting. The proclamation declares the month of May as Building Safety Month.

The Building & Safety Division will celebrate the importance of building and safety issues on May 22nd from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Perkins Plaza in the Glendale Civic Center. This annual celebration is for homeowners, residents, building professionals, educators, businesses and anyone interested in building and safety issues that affect their community. This year's theme is "No Code. No Confidence."

The event will be an opportunity for those interested to connect with building trade specialists; discuss building project ideas with Permit Services staff; learn about the permitting process, plan check, accessory dwelling units, and more; and enjoy free lunch and giveaways. For more information about Building Safety Month, visit the City's website or call (818) 937-8121. The Building & Safety Division also offers a student scholarship in honor of Building Safety Month.
