Attempted Robbery at Glendale Galleria


On March 10, 2018, at 2:47 pm, Glendale Police Officers responded to the Glendale Galleria, in response to the report of an attempted robbery and shots fired. Further information from the callers indicated the attempted robbery took place at the Bhindi Jewelry store, located inside the Glendale Galleria. At least two men had entered the store with mallets and started smashing jewelry showcases, and that a security guard had interrupted the robbery and was detaining one of the suspects.

When Officers arrived on scene they learned that an armed guard, employed at the Bhindi Jewelry store, had confronted the two suspects while they were in the process of smashing the showcases. The guard fired his weapon when one of the suspects turned and ran toward him. The guard fired two shots and no one was injured. The guard managed to detain one of the suspects while the other suspect ran out of the store.

Once police arrived on scene they took the suspect into custody and placed him under arrest. The suspect has been identified as 20 year old Kamal Key of Los Angeles.

Surveillance photos indicate there were four total suspects. Three suspects went into the mall, while the fourth remained with a car that was parked nearby. Photos of the suspects and the car used in the crime are being released.

The case remains under investigation by the Glendale Police Department. Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the outstanding suspects.
