City Hall Tree Lighting on Nov. 30

The City of Glendale will host its annual holiday tree lighting ceremony on Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Perkins Plaza just behind City Hall, 613 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA 91206.

The ceremony will feature the lighting of the City Hall tree, a special visit from Santa Claus, and complimentary hot cocoa. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking structure, which can be accessed from Wilson Ave.

The tree lighting is a Glendale tradition that dates back to 1985, when it was in the Municipal Services Building Plaza next door to City Hall until 1988. To accommodate the growing crowd in attendance at these ceremonies, the lighting was moved to the Civic Auditorium from 1989 through 1992.

From 1993 to 1997, the ceremony was held at the intersection of Brand and Glenoaks Boulevards, using the giant Redwood tree at that intersection. In 1998, the ceremony return to the City Hall complex.

Last year, over 700 people attended the ceremony.
