City TV Programming Awarded for Excellence

On the Move, a regularly scheduled television program aimed at providing informative and delightful content to Glendale residents, recently received the 3CMA Award of Excellence for regularly scheduled programming.

Hosted by Eliza Papazian, community outreach assistant at the City of Glendale, and produced by GTV6, the City’s local television station, On the Move provides valuable insights about life in Glendale. The 10 to 20 minute long, monthly program features a wide variety of topics, including clips in recent episodes about safe driving in school zones, myths about the Glendale Beeline, and Glendale Tech Week.

In recognition of On the Move, 3CMA, a national organization specializing in city and county marketing communications, commented that “great graphics and fun features make this program an enjoyable watch.”

3CMA judges continued, “The employee spotlight was a great way to make city programs and services personal. The program had a nice blend of segments that highlighted a variety of city programs and issues. Solid storytelling and crisp visuals.”

This recognition for excellence in communication isn’t the first for the Communication and Community Relations Department of the City of Glendale.

The department received this year’s 3CMA award for its public service announcement on the City’s libraries, which was also produced by GTV6. Last year, the California Public Information Officials, or CAPIO, awarded the department for its monthly newsletter, Glendale City Connection.

“Awards like these result from a team that is committed to educating the public through entertaining and informative pieces on news that matters,” said Director of the Communications and Community Relations Tom Lorenz. “We provide critical information so that residents can make informed decisions.”

The Communications and Community Relations Department also communicates with the public via the City’s Facebook page and Twitter profile, where over a million impressions were achieved in a three-day period during the recent La Tuna Canyon Fire.
