Glendale Arts Seeks Board Members


Do you love the history and art in Glendale and want to get involved? Well look no further than Glendale Arts! Glendale Arts is seeking nominations of qualified professionals for appointment to its Board of Directors. All nominations are due by Thursday June 22, click here for the application.

The private non-profit organization has a mission to integrate the arts into the identity, growth and economic vitality of the City of Glendale by presenting programming and creating partnerships that benefit youth, patrons, artists, organizations and businesses in the community and at the Alex Theatre,

All nominees will be contacted to schedule an interview with a nomination committee member to take place the week in mid-July. The nominating committee will determine the final board slate and present it to the Glendale Arts Board of Directors for approval in the Summer of 2018.

The timeline is as follows:

June 22 -- Self-nominations deadline

July 10 - 20 -- Nominees contacted for interviews

July 26 -- Final board approved & notified

Glendale Arts Board Member Expectations:

Glendale Arts Board Members have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the organization does the best work possible in pursuit of its mission and goals as well as act as responsible stewards of the historic Alex Theatre.

Glendale Arts Board Members are required to:

  • Attend at least 75% of board meetings, committee meetings, and special events (board meetings are held 6 times per year and committees meet on an as needed basis).

  • Actively participate in one or more fundraising activities and ensure the $1000 individual and annual Give or Get requirement is met.

  • Participate as a member of the Fund Development Committee during their first year of service.

  • Participate in the organization’s planning.

  • Act in the best interests of Glendale Arts, and excuse themselves from discussions and votes where a conflict of interest is present.

  • Attend at least one Alex Theatre Backstage Tour during their first year of service.

  • Help with donor identification, cultivation and / or stewardship.

  • Provide financial oversight and governance.

  • Stay informed about what's going on in the organization by asking questions and requesting information and by participating in and taking responsibility for making decisions on issues, policies and other board matters.

The term of service for elected board member is from August 2018 to June 30, 2019. Board Members are eligible for 3 Terms. (1) One Year Term; (1) Two Year Term; (1) Three Year Term
