Glendale has received its 10th Growth Award by the National Arbor Day Foundation! Our mountainous, green, and leafy neighborhoods helped distinguish Glendale as a Sterling Tree City. Glendale is one of only 14 cities in the State of California with that designation. Glendale will be recognized for its 34th year as a Tree City USA Community at the Glendale Beautiful Arbor Day Celebration on Tuesday March 6th at 10 a.m. Click here to learn more about the 2018 Arbor Day Celebration.
The Tree City USA Growth Award is given out by the National Arbor Day Foundation to recognize higher levels of tree care by participating Tree City USA communities. The Growth Award highlights innovative programs and projects, as well as increased commitment of resources for urban forestry above and beyond the Tree City USA distinction. The City of Glendale earned the Growth Award this year for its active involvement in the street tree locations and species selection for several large street improvement projects, and for formally approving the updated Urban Forest Management Plan.
