The City of Glendale is proud to promote the great work Habitat for Humanity does for the Glendale community. Many people know the nonprofit for its work building homes for low income families across the world. But the organization also helps low-income homeowners alleviate health and safety issues in and around their home. Habitat for Humanity even offers a second pool of funds for low-income veterans.
Habitat’s Home Repair Program offers affordable financing for non-cosmetic improvements to low-income homes. The amounts repaid through these financing plans are then recycled and used to assist future low-income homeowners in need of home repairs. The repayment options are as follows:
Homeowners pay a one-time fee equal to 3% of the total project costs of the repairs provided. Homeowners pay no more than $450 for critical repairs
Homeowners agree to a zero percent interest, zero down payment, zero monthly payment loan for the total project costs of the repairs provided. The loan is secured to the property and is completely forgiven if the homeowner remains in the home for seven years after the repairs are completed.
Homeowners must submit a complete program application along with copies of documentation to establish their eligibility. Participant selection is based on funding and the condition of the home.
