Meet the Funders & Jumpstart Your Startup


Hosting its third annual Glendale Tech Week, Glendale continues to offer a positive ecosystem of support for entrepreneurs and startups through original programming, networking opportunities, and access to leaders in a variety of industries. Coming off the success of last year, Glendale Tech Week will again offer the popular Meet the Funders event, providing one-on-one access to angel investors, venture capitalists and lenders to discuss fundraising strategies.

The exclusive opportunity to network with LA’s top funders takes place Monday, September 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Glen Arden Club, 357 Arden Avenue Glendale, CA, 91203. The Funders include:

  • Ana Quintana, Black Diamond Ventures and SheVentures. Ana provides tactical support on communications, capital raising, and marketing initiatives, with a particular focus on Medical Devices, Mobile Applications, and Telecommunication sectors.

  • Chris Lucas, Black Diamond Ventures. Chris seeks visionary entrepreneurs developing market-transforming products or technologies, focusing on privately-held companies, primarily in the Biotechnology, Medical Devices, Semiconductor Design, Data Analytics, and Mobile Platforms.

  • Nina Achadjian, Index Ventures and HIVE Ventures. Nina focuses on venture and growth investments in enterprise SaaS and digital health.She is particularly excited about vertical SaaS solutions that replace pen and paper workflows.

  • Vaughn Blake, Autochrome Ventures. Vaughn seeks inception and seed stage companies that are effectuating systemic, behavioral change in legacy industries or utilizing frontier technology in order to produce non-linear outcomes in emerging industries.

  • Armen Vartanian, Oceanview Capital Partners, Inc. Armen provides strategic planning, transaction structuring, finance management, and corporate governance for entrepreneur-led companies.

  • Jim Schaefer, Pasadena Angels. Jim advises entrepreneurs, CEO’s and managers on financial issues, with a special emphasis in business strategies for increasing revenue, controlling costs and managing financial matters.

  • Austin Clements, TenOneTen Ventures. Austin focuses on seed stage startups and is committed to encouraging underrepresented minorities to pursue careers in tech and entrepreneurship.

  • Jon Kraft, Quantum Storey. Jon has over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur in software and consumer digital media and currently acts as a mentor and advisor to several early stage companies.

  • Mike Giardello, Materia. Mike is a founder of Pasadena-based Materia, an advanced materials and catalyst technology company, and serves as President, CEO and CTO.

  • Kiyan Yazdi, Mucker Capital. Before joining Mucker Capital, Kiyan was member of the founding team at The Beard Club (Formerly, The Dollar Beard Club) where he helped build the company to over 70,000 monthly subscribers and $18 million in revenue in just its first 18 months.
