The City of Glendale is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck an elderly woman.
On December 21, 2018, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Glendale Police Department received several 911 calls reporting that a woman had been hit by a car at the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Linden Avenue. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman who had been hit was deceased. The vehicle that hit the woman had left the scene and there were no witnesses to the collision. The victim has since been identified as 72-year old Novar Ismailyan, a resident of Glendale.
Detectives have canvassed the neighborhood asking for witnesses and attempting to retrieve video from surveillance cameras in the area. They were able to identify a video that shows a woman stopping her vehicle on Allen Avenue, a side street just south of Glenoaks Boulevard. The video depicts the woman getting out of her car to inspect it for damage.
Witnesses told police they saw the woman inspecting her vehicle on Allen Avenue, but had no idea there had been a fatal accident just moments before. The witnesses describe the suspect as a white female in her late 50s to early 70s, driving a black Toyota Prius, model years between 2004 and 2015.
