South Glendale Community Plan

January 25, 2018

DEIR Public Review Period Open through March 12

The South Glendale Community Plan, in development since 2013, will be the official guide for the neighborhoods and commercial districts in Glendale south of the 134 Freeway, including the Downtown Specific Plan. The Plan constitutes the City’s goals and policies for stewardship of the places and people that make up South Glendale. It is intended to revamp the community by shaping positive change and fostering sustainable land use patterns, while balancing the unique character of the community with citywide policies and regional initiatives.

The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), a comprehensive document to inform the public of the significant environmental effects of the project, possible ways to minimize significant effects, and reasonable alternatives to the project was recently published. The 60-day public review period for the DEIR is open through March 12, 2018. Written comments must be received by email at sgcp@glendaleca.gov or by mail addressed to Erik Krause, Deputy Director of Planning, 633 E Broadway, Room 103, Glendale, prior to the close of the public review period at 5:30 p.m. on March 12, 2018.  Individuals may also submit their comments online by clicking here.

A special joint meeting of the Planning Commission and Transportation and Parking Commission has also been scheduled for Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 5pm in MSB 105. The purpose of this joint meeting is for both boards and the public to comment on the DEIR for the South Glendale Community Plan project. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the public meeting and to present written and/or oral comments.
