Tech Accelerator Pilot Program

The City of Glendale is poised to become a regional tech hub – its prime location, business friendly environment, and vibrant Downtown district have attracted over 1,000 high tech firms that employ approximately 41,000 people.

To further support and grow its tech sector, the Economic Development Division has created a new and amazing opportunity! The City has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking qualified applicants for the operation and management of a Tech Accelerator Pilot Program. The submission deadline is Thursday, September 13 at 5 pm.

Accelerators are highly competitive, time-bound programs that provide a cohort of start-ups with mentorship and resources, culminating in a “pitch” day attended by investors. Accelerators also provide a suite of services that are individually costly, and often take years to access and compress into a few short weeks or months. The creation of an Accelerator Pilot Program is a key part of the Tech Strategy, which calls for the creation of high quality work space for the tech industry.

The RFP welcomes proposals from a variety of qualified respondents such as: individuals, private companies, venture capital firms, seed accelerators, industry groups, academic or research institutions, and co-working spaces. Collaborative proposals are encouraged, and proposals that include partnerships with Glendale-based entities or individuals are preferred. A successful proposal must have a physical location in the City of Glendale. The City has identified two sites that can be available to bidders for the length of the Pilot Program: Plaza Bank and the Glendale Central Library.

A Project Proposal must be submitted with all mandatory material no later than Thursday, September 13, 2018 by 5:00pm. Proposals should be addressed and delivered to: City of Glendale - Economic Development Division 633 East Broadway, Suite 201 Glendale, CA 91206 ATTN: Jennifer McLain Hiramoto, Principal Economic Development Officer.

The Economic Development Division has organized an optional Pre-Bid Conference and Site Tour to go over any questions, comments or concerns from prospective consultants. Attendance at the proposal site tour is optional. This is scheduled for:

Thursday, August 23 10 am – Noon 250 N. Orange Street Glendale, CA 91206

Please RSVP by emailing Ani Pogossian at apogossian@glendaleca.gov or by phone at (818) 548- 2005 no later than Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
