YMCA of the Foothills Event to Educate About Youth Drug Abuse


YMCA of the Foothills, which continues the work of the CV Alliance, will host its next Strategic Partners Network meeting featuring former USC football quarterback Todd Marinovich who will discuss the challenges youth endure dealing with a professional sports career, including his personal struggles.

Marinovich, a current quarterback for the SoCal Coyotes football team of the World Developmental League, was a first round pick for the Los Angeles Raiders in 1991. His NFL career was cut short primarily due to a drug addiction.

Scheduled for Friday, September 15 from 8 to 10 a.m. at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, the meeting will also feature the founder of the Strategic Partners Network and meditation expert Suzy Jacobs. Jacobs will explain how daily meditation decreases stress, increases happiness, and benefits practitioners of all ages.

Opening comments will be delivered by City of Glendale Director of Communication Tom Lorenz. A former sergeant with the Glendale Police Department, Lorenz a Drug Recognition Expert speaks for several state and federal agencies throughout the United States on several topics including drug abuse recognition.
