It was all smiles at the opening of the new Burbank Airport-North Station on Thursday, May 10. The event was emceed by Glendale City Council Member Ara Najarian, who is a member of the Metrolink Board of Directors and its current 2nd Vice-Chair.
“This new Metrolink station will increase mobility and provide a faster and more seamless transit option for many residents in Southern California,” said Najarian to a large crowd of attendees.
Among that crowd were dignitaries including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Council Member Paul Krekorian, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and Glendale City Council Member Vartan Gharpetian. The station is dedicated to former Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who was also in attendance (all dignitaries pictured above).
The North Station is on the Antelope Valley line, which runs between Lancaster and Union Station. Located at the corner of Hollywood Way and San Fernando Boulevard, North Station is one mile from the Hollywood Burbank Airport. The station will be serviced by a regular shuttle provided by the airport, and the City of Burbank’s BurbankBus.
