Caltrans Notice: Long-Term Closure of Colorado Street Off-Ramp on Northbound I-5

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) today announced the long-term closure of Colorado Street off-ramp from northbound I-5.

Beginning Wednesday night, June 20 at 10 p.m., the northbound off-ramp at Colorado Street will be closed through January 2019 as the off-ramp and bridge are widened for safety reasons.

The $4.3 million project will widen the bridge, shoulders, and off-ramp lane. It will replace guardrail with a concrete barrier to improve the flow of traffic and provide safety for maintenance workers and motorists.

Construction may temporarily close the adjacent bike path. Detour signs will be posted to notify motorists and cyclists of alternate routes.

The project’s expected completion date is spring 2020. C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Valencia, CA is the contractor.

California drivers will see more improvements to bridges on freeways and highways as a result of SB 1, the state’s new transportation funding. To find transportation projects in Los Angeles and Ventura County that Caltrans and local communities are investing in with SB 1 revenue, visit http://rebuildingca.ca.gov/map.html.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
