Cancellations and Closures Due to COVID-19


In order to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the City of Glendale has cancelled, closed, and made adjustments to various operations.

Glendale City Hall: All service counters located inside the City Hall, Municipal Services, and Perkins buildings, as well as other off-site facilities, are closed to the public. Service counters are no longer accepting appointments for service. All City Departments can be reached by phone and all online resources are available during regular operation hours ( 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. M-Th; 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays). If you have questions regarding COVID-19, you can call the information hotline at 818.548.3301.

Glendale Police Department: There will be limited access to the front lobby of GPD (131 N Isabel St.) until further notice, except in essential situations. If a member of the public requires police assistance while at the Glendale Police Department, they can utilize the phone located next tot he main entrance doors to speak with an operator.

Glendale Water and Power: GWP's counters are now closed to the public at least through the end of March. To pay utility bills, residents and businesses are encouraged to take advantage of our various payment methods:

  • Online at www.glendalewaterandpower.com

  • GWP Mobile My Connect App – Customers must download the phone app from the app store.

  • Pay Near Me at 7-Eleven

  • Direct Payment Option- Automatic payment withdrawal from customer checking account.

  • Pay by Phone – Through our automated system at (855)550-4497

  • Pay by Mail - Mail in payments to City of Glendale, PO Bo 29099, Glendale, CA 912092

  • Drop Boxes- Payments may be dropped off at the main entrance at 141 N. Glendale Ave, and at the end of the driveway from Wilson

*GWP will not be disconnecting electric or water services or charging late fees through December 2020 to our customers due to their inability to pay their utility bills during this trying time. Please be aware that if you receive a call threatening to have your power shut off, DO NOT provide payment details by phone, and hang up. GWP will never call customers and demand payment by threatening to shut off your service.

Community Services and Parks

The following facilities are closed until further notice:

  • Sparr Heights Community Center

  • Adult Recreation Center (ARC)

  • Pacific Community Center

  • Pacific Community Pool

  • Glendale Sports Complex

  • Civic Auditorium

  • Maple Park Community Center

  • Verdugo Skate Park

The following programs have are cancelled until further notice:

  • All senior programs and classes

  • Teen Night Out

  • Tot Time Programs

  • Pickelball

  • All sports leagues are suspended

*Note: The closures of the Senior Centers will not affect the meal distribution program

Permit Services: Effective Thursday, March 19, all permit service counters at the City of Glendale are closed to the public. No appointments will be seen at the permit counter, and this includes appointments scheduled by staff outside of Qmatic’s online system. If you made an appointment, please call and cancel the appointment(s) that you made; you will not be able to access the Municipal Services Building. Communication is restricted to phone or email until further notice.

Glendale Libraries: All facilities and their respective programs are closed until further notice. Visit Glendale Libraries online to see everything you can access from your home!

Events in Glendale Through April 19:

  • All permitted events at city facilities have been cancelled.

  • All City-sponsored events have been cancelled
