Police Department Museum
The Glendale City Council asked the Public Works Department and the Glendale Police Foundation, or GPF, to take another look at scaling back design elements of the proposed Glendale Police Department Museum to reduce its cost.
As part of the action, Council directed Public Works Director Roubik Golanian to negotiate with the two construction firms that submitted bids on the proposed project to reduce its final price tag.
The museum will be located in the Glendale Police Department lobby and showcase the department’s rich history.
GPF has fundraised approximately $155,000 toward its $180,000 goal to support the construction of the museum. At Tuesday’s council meeting, council did not appropriate any funding for the project, as it awaits the results of negotiations.
City staff’s report recommended a total budget of $260,000 with a $20,000 contingency. A majority of the cost would be covered by GPF.
“Collaboratively and in partnership with the contractor, we are confident that we can lower the bid amount,” said Golanian.
Grant Award
City Council accepted a $50,000 grant award from the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to repair and upgrade the Household Hazardous Waste facility at the Glendale Environmental Management Center.
