Glendale City Council approved the consent calendar.
City Council approved the resolution of appropriation and authorized $32,706 in donations from the Community Foundation of the Verdugos and the Glendale Fire Foundation for the purchase of additional first-in alerting system dorm remotes for Fire Station 21. The Fire Department, through the generous donations received from the Community Foundation of the Verdugos and the Glendale Fire Foundation, would like to expand the capabilities of this system by adding dorm remotes. Dorm remotes will address a significant health issue associated with firefighting. The full report can be found here.
City Council also approved the resolution which amended an executed agreement with Youngblood & Associates for pre-employment polygraph examinations and increased the total contract value. The amended professional services agreement will increase the total payment for services with Youngblood & Associates to $190,375 in total. Increasing the total contract value amount will provide the department with 310 additional polygraphs for the remainder of the agreement term. The full report can be found here.
Glendale City Council approved a resolution appropriating funds for pre-employment background investigation services for the Verdugo Fire Communications Center. Pre-employment background services are a critical component of the Glendale Fire Department’s hiring process. The Department is committed to hiring individuals who will continue to uphold the mission, standards, responsibilities and moral character expected of all members. The full report can be found here.

City Council also approved a resolution which will authorize the City to participate in the Taking Back Our Community Coalition. Taking Back Our Community is a Coalition of California cities advocating for the State to engage in further discussions to identify solutions for addressing the unintended consequences of changes made to California’s criminal justice system through the enactment of AB 109, Proposition 47, and Proposition 57. The Coalition is led by the Cities of Arcadia, Glendora, and Monrovia, with Monrovia acting as the lead administrative agency. Approximately 35 cities have joined the Coalition to date. City Council directed City staff to conduct more outreach and set up educational community meetings with tenants and landlords regarding the proposed “Right to Lease” ordinance. The full staff report can be found here.
Public Hearing
The Glendale City Council approved a motion, which overturned CEQA determination made by the Director of Community
Development regarding the proposed demolition of an existing single-family house and detached garage built in the Craftsman style circa 1920 on a property addressed as 361 Myrtle Street. The full report can be found here.
Next Meeting
