They don’t call Glendale the Jewel City for nothing. As the centerpiece of Los Angeles County, Glendale residents have easy access to most parts of the greater Los Angeles area. The Glendale Transportation Center, located at 400 W. Cerritos Ave., makes the most of Glendale’s prime location.
Greyhound, Metro Buses, Amtrak, the Glendale Beeline, and Metrolink all pass through Glendale’s historic transportation center, dedicated to former Glendale Mayor Larry Zarian. The latter, Metrolink, offers quick, easy, and affordable access to several fun destinations and events near Glendale.
Residents can snag a ride on a Metrolink train from the City’s multimodal transportation hub to DTLA’s Union Station, before hoping on Metro’s Gold Line, to reach a summer celebration in Chinatown.
Chinese cultural activities, booths by local organizations and museums, craft brews, and dancing will greet travelers stepping off the train at the Chinatown Metro Gold Line station.
Tickets for two round trip tickets come out to about $10, and can be purchased using the Metrolink App, online at metrolinktrains.com, or at a ticket machine at the station. The final evening of Chinatown’s Summer Nights celebration is Saturday, September 2.
The 2017 L.A. County Fair is also within reach with a train ride to the Fairplex Station in Pomona. Scheduled to run from September 1 to 24, the L.A. County Fair is one of the largest of its kind in the world. At a cost of $10 per person, the Weekend Day Pass is the best value and can be purchased on the Metrolink app, online, at a ticket machine at the Glendale Train Station.
You can even buy single-day passes at a discounted rate with the promo code Metrolink at lacountyfair.com.
