Beginning in 2015, the City of Glendale and its project team began reinvigorating the Central Library, one of the Jewel City’s most iconic buildings. The $15 million renovation concluded in the form of a revitalized state-of-the-art facility for the community. Now the completed project is being honored with a 2018 Los Angeles Conservancy Award, an annual award recognizing the preservation of buildings with immense historical and cultural significance.
The recently renovated Central Library was transformed to fit the growing needs of the community along with upgrading safety standards. Today’s library provides residents a diverse environment for exploration with the addition of a new Teen Space, an outdoor café, a reading spa, exhibition space, a recording studio, hundreds of shelves of books, and a rentable space with tools for local artists and craftspeople to use.
