The Public Works Department is upgrading and relocating the Glendale Traffic Management Center (GTMC). The existing GTMC, originally built and configured in 1997, is no longer a viable or sustainable solution to support current technologies and communication protocols for newer equipment. Upgrades will include a new central traffic signal control system with greater flexibility and support for real-time technology, which provides the platform for future tools integrating adaptive signals, connected vehicles, vehicle travel times, and system performance. The GTMC will provide staff engineers with a real-time view of traffic signal
Services Building to provide a central operations center for the new GTMC communications equipment, video wall display, and user consoles. The GTMC is scheduled to be operational by August 2020.
