Monthly Housing Subsidy Program


The Monthly Housing Subsidy Program (MHSP) is a pilot program designed to provide financial subsidy assistance to extremely low income disabled senior renters in Glendale. The program will provide a $300 per month subsidy to qualified households for up to 24 months. 1,000 qualified households will be served under the MHSP.

In order to qualify, applicants must meet be:

  • Senior(s): Every member of your household must be age 62 or older. Applicants age 75 or older will be given priority.

  • Disabled: At least one member of your household must be disabled

  • Renter: Applicant must be a current renter of a unit in Glendale

  • Extremely Low Income: Total household annual income cannot exceed the following:

  • 1 Person- no more than $21,950

  • 2 Persons- no more than $25,050

You must apply for the lottery in person at: 141 N Glendale Ave, Suite 118.

Open enrollment is available from Thursday, November 14 through Thursday, December 12th, 2019.

Monday-Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

The Application Center will e closed Sundays, holidays, Thanksgiving weekend, and December 6th.

You must bring your California ID or California Driver's License in order to apply. Households to be considered for eligibility will be selected via a random lottery, after the end of the application period.

Please note: (1) Households currently participating in the Section 8 program or living in City sponsored affordable housing projects, are not eligible to apply for the MHSP. (2) Please dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared to stand in line for periods of time when applying.
