Monthly Housing Subsidy Program: Lottery Date Announced


In November 2019, Glendale's Housing Department began open enrollment for the Monthly Housing Subsidy Program (MHSP), a pilot program designed to provide a $300 per month subsidy to extremely low income disabled senior renters in Glendale.

Open enrollment ended on December 12, 2019. Each applicant was consulted before submitting an application to ensure they met all qualifications. In order to qualify, applicants had to meet certain qualifications: 1.) Every member of the household must be age 62 or older. Applicants age 75 or older will be given priority, 2.) At least one member of the household must be disabled, 3.) Applicants must be a current renter of a unit in Glendale, 4.) Total household annual income cannot exceed the following: 1 Person no more than $21,950 and 2 person no more than $25,050.

The lottery will take place on Friday, January 24, 2020 beginning at 8:30am at the City of Glendale’s Municipal Services Building, which is located at 633 E. Broadway, Room 105 Glendale, CA 91206 (MSB 105). Attendance overflow seating will be set up in the lobby of City Hall, located at 613 E Broadway.

The lottery will be broadcast live on GTV6, which can be viewed on Charter/Spectrum Cable, channel 6 in Glendale/La Crescenta and on channel 16 in Burbank, and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse. Viewers can also live stream online through Glendale's website or on YouTube. The lottery is expected to take between 6-8 hours to complete. Applicants DO NOT need to be present at the lottery. All applicants will be mailed notifications letters informing them of the lottery results.
