First Time Home Buyers Move Into Habitat Homes on Lomita Avenue

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last Saturday, August 3, at the site of six completed San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity Lomita Avenue homes in Glendale, CA. The ceremony featured remarks from Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian and Councilmember Vrej Agajanian, chair of the City of Glendale Housing Authority, which partnered with SGV Habitat to make this development a reality. Councilmember Paula Devine was also present.

The highlight of the ceremony was the delivery of house keys to the new, first time homeowners, followed by an interview panel of the homeowners, and the presentation of a gift of $127,000 in grants and matching funds from Wells Fargo for more projects similar to the Lomita Avenue homes. Homeowners collectively invested more than 3,000 hours of their own time to help build the homes and prepare for successful home ownership. The Lomita Avenue homes project is the 9th project completed by SGV Habitat in Glendale made possible by its partnership with the Glendale Housing Authority bringing the grand total to 43 units developed and sold to qualified low income, first time homebuyer households.
