Pipeline Management Project to Cause Minor Water Service Interruptions

Glendale Water & Power (GWP) continues to improve the City’s water infrastructure in order to deliver reliable and high quality water to its customers. As part of its capital improvement efforts, GWP will be starting its Pipeline Management Program to replace over 9,800 feet of old cast iron water mains with new ductile-iron potable water pipes and the installation of various valves and appurtenances that will improve the water delivery system. This project also includes upgrades to the fire hydrant systems that will ensure our Class 1 Fire Department continues to have access to properly upgraded hydrants in the case of any emergencies.

The Pipeline Management Program will be done in three (3) phases with construction design activities having started in February 2020 and construction continuing through March 2021. The nature of this work, as is common with other types of construction work done in the public roadway, requires that there be intermittent street lane closures, limited access to parking, temporarily blocked driveways, equipment noise, and dust. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted two days prior to any street closures.

Scheduled water outages will also be required as part of the construction and residents will be notified via door hanger two days prior to a scheduled water outage. A postcard will be mailed two weeks prior to construction in your street to let residents know that GWP’s contractor, J. De Sigio Construction, Inc. will be working in the area.

Below is the tentative schedule to transfer service onto the new water main. Please note, this schedule is subject to change.
