Walk Bike Glendale Participates in Operation Firefly

We’ve rolled back the clocks, the sun sets earlier, but our commute stays the same. If you use your bike to get around the city, it’s important to realize how the time change can affect your visibility on the streets. California state law requires that bicyclists have a white front light and reflectors while riding at night. If you don’t have these necessities, then don’t worry, because Operation Firefly is here to help.

Operation Firefly is an education and bike light distribution program of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and is intended to make sure people riding bikes in LA County are riding safely at night. Every year, Operation Firefly organizes groups of volunteers and dispatches them across the county to distribute lights and safety information.

Glendale’s LACBC chapter, Walk Bike Glendale, will conduct Operation Firefly on Wednesday, November 14th at the corner of Sonora and Flower from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Stop by to get some reflective bands, educational materials, and bike lights.

If you’d like to volunteer visit Walkbikeglendale.org or send an e-mail to Walk Bike Glendale.
